This young boy just happened to know a lot of random things and information about trivial mysteries, however he didn't seem like it and instead, gives the impression of a squinty boy who had nothing better to do than sleeping/dancing/spacing out in random places.
He actually is an extremely sharp observant who studies everywhere and anywhere in his own way but he keep all the information by himself, moreover, He did study seriously during classes no matter how boring it is only for the sake of not having to study for exam. It's not like he didn't want to share his knowledge, he's very aware of how people think about him and all of his nerdy-ness, he will gladly share what he knows if people ask him directly but sadly most people never approach him for that reason. when he's bored, he's mischievous enough to pull some pranks on his friends or even strangers which mostly result in trouble. since he find guilty pleasure in bending rules, he would not hesitate to make up some excuses or lie to escape from trouble but it doesn't mean that he is not daring enough to put all the blame on him to protect his partner in crime.

Ed is never seen to be rude to people he looks up sometimes to, However, when it's around his same-age friend, he find it hard not to express himself so he can be rude and eccentric too. he is an observant about analyzing hidden fact and information but when it comes to feelings and mood swings of someone, he turns out to be a total noob. He didn't get angry easily when people talked on his back or insult him but when someone do that to his family or close friends, he'll pay them back in the most childlish way ever: like maybe snatch their wand and throw them into pile of poop or made them vomit slugs. it's hard to encourage him to be serious which is very annoying most of the time.

ED HAS CHANGED A LOT IN A YEAR- he becomes calmer and tend to be considerate with people around him even though he's still the inappropriate boy who pranked people in the wrong time less friendlier than the previous year, but still polite to seniors so far. He also becoming to be prone to stress thanks to the precious gryffindors brothers misadventures so far. he tend to be suspicious of others and very proud of his hair because the summer break has begin his love for hairgels

Background / history :

The Hemlocks aren't well known with their classy lineage since his great grandmother is 1/4 giantess. However, that condition blessed the next generation to be gifted in understanding ancient magic and more adapt in dealing with creatures which resulted in the most of the family members work as magical creature specialist. He spent his time being tutored by his parents and his grandfather, lacking friend of the same age, he looks forward to make new friends.

He received the invitation letter when he was 11. After getting ready for school, and shopping for school appliance, he entered the school for the first time as the sorting hat took some time on him. he's not ambitious and sophisticated enough despite his resourcefulness like the slytherins, and he's not a fan of fair play and loyalty like the hufflepuffs. it's a good thing that he had the nerve and is bold enough to do what he thinks is right despite his intelligence, so in the end- he is sorted to the go with the gryffindors instead of the ravenclaw.

he didn't change much after his first year. still playing around with simple spells, collecting rumours and exploring the school for fun, but if there's something that he got for the whole second year experience, it's DETENTION. Name all stupid task for detention students, he knows it all.

Father: Abraham Hemlock (40) a Non-Human Spirituous Apparition specialist, works in the ministry by researching and dealing with dementors, boggart and mostly, poltergeist.
Mother: Cameron Hemlock (38) half blood, used to be a potioneer but has been a stay at home mother for at least 10 years.
Sister: Lucy and Lydia Hemlock (9)
Grandfather: Arsenius Hemlock (65) a dragonologist, used to work at dragon reserves around the world but just retired recently, and lived with his son, Abraham.

Ed is raised in a very warm and happy environment with his loving but strict mother and his laid-back and eccentric father. even before he enrolled Hogwarts, he used to visit his grandfather in Romania for months every year and learn a lot, about how the law of nature and some ancient magic history. While his grandfather teach him about most of the knowledge he possessed, his father is the one who educate him mentally. Since he is a non-being specialist who travels often, he is really concerned about the emotional state of his family. He educate them about how to cope with amortal beings and the most important thing is to be mentally healthy. This eccentric man also tends to gang with the children when dealing with his strict and worry-wart mother.

Likes: chocolates, animals, magical creatures, experimenting, wandering off by himself, sunny days, hot soup and brooth, freebies, resourceful people, his family and friends, magical equipment, music (plays harmonica).

dislikes: persistent, boring, and sentimental people, kids (not too much, his sisters is okay tho), coffee, rainy days, uninteresting assignments and essay, all kinds of dolls (he finds them creepy- they freak him out)
